Our office has been has been busy working with our committees and partners to get ready for the Plano Race for the Cure, visiting our state capitol to advocate for breast health policies that will help the women and men in our area get access to life-saving services, and planning some exciting Race season kick-off events. You’ll want to stay tuned!

Research Spotlight
A study supported by Susan G. Komen uncovers how triple negative breast cancer cells are able to resist treatment and reveals a potential drug combination that could stop cancer growth and also help prevent resistance. Read the full article on the UNC Health Care website.
Komen North Texas Updates
Plano Race for the Cure® Registration Open
Check out our new registration website and register for the 2017 North Texas Race for the Cure. The Race will be on Saturday, June 10. Once you get registered, keep an eye on your email – we’ll be sending you special information about fundraising incentives and awards!
Komen North Texas Visits Austin
On February 8, Komen North Texas joined other Texas Komen Affiliates and visited our local lawmakers at the State Capitol in Austin to advocate for continued support of breast health services and cancer research. Learn more about our trip and our advocacy efforts here.

Breast cancer affects us all. Whether you’re a survivor, co-survivor, Race supporter, or just eager to end breast cancer – we want to hear from you! Sharing your story can be healing for you while offering hope to others. Submit your story here, and it may appear in an upcoming email or even on our website.

Thank you to everyone who has submitted a More Than Pink™ picture. Being More Than Pink™ can mean getting your regular mammogram or clinical breast exam, registering for the Race for the Cure, driving your neighbor to her chemo treatments, and so much more. National Partnerships
Wacoal Fit for the Cure®
This year marks the 17th anniversary of Wacoal’s Fit for the Cure® program benefiting Komen. For every woman who gets a professional bra fitting at an event, Wacoal will donate $2 to Komen (no purchase is necessary). Wacoal will also donate $2 to Komen for every Wacoal bra, shapewear item or b.tempt-d bra purchased at these events with a guaranteed minimum donation of $250,000 in 2017. Bank of America Pink Ribbon Banking
For each new Pink Ribbon credit card benefiting Susan G. Komen opened, Komen receives a minimum of $3 and 0.08% of all net retail purchases made with the card. For example, 8 cents for every $100. Komen also receives $3 for each renewal of a card that was in good standing during the 12 month period and does not have a zero balance at the time of the renewal. For more information, click here.
Volunteer Opportunities
Sign Up with Your Group
If you have a group that would like to earn some volunteer hours, let us know by emailing volunteer@komennorthtexas.org. In order for us to place you with an appropriate volunteer project, please email us with your group size, number of hours needed, date range, and ages of volunteers.
Calling All Crafters
If you love scrapbooking, decoupage, hot glue, and paint, you’d love the Elizabeth’s Garden Committee! We’re looking for individuals to help us decorate tulips and butterflies that are purchased and then placed in Elizabeth’s Garden on Race day.
